You can do the first steps with just the GW and no fdd without the molex to floppy power connector as that is only required for the 2nd set of tests.
I'll do the first test tonight.

Turns out they're spare SATA cables not molex.

Would I still be able to run from this to floppy even if it means plugging in a SATA to Molex and then Molex to FDD?

Why is it always so complicated! :comp:

More likely one of these I think:

The SATA power connector is female so you'd need a male adapter.

Thanks @rubber_jonnie

I'm losing it a little bit so really appreciate the guidance.

No worries.

Perhaps put it to bed for today, come back fresh tomorrow.

Ok @rubber_jonnie

I could see that the light was on GW inside the PC. But to do exactly as you've said I've tested it using an external USB port and it's definitely lighting up.

This is what I get when I try and run the software. I've only ever seen videos with people already in the command Line.

Never seen a video of someone actually starting the .exe

It's only up for 4 frames:

Tried my best to capture it but on my other attempt the text was a complete blur.

Ok, so that's a good start.

And you've followed the install instructions here: https://github.com/keirf/Greaseweazle/w ... stallation

And if you try to copy a disk does GW complain about no FDD being present?

Oh, and don't try to run GW by double clicking on it, you need to open a command prompt and run it from there.

You might be better off downloading the GUI from my previous link.

It says Windows 10 should automatically install the driver. I don't know how to try and copy a disk. I assumed clicking the exe would put me in a command line but it closes again immediately. So I haven't plugged the ribbon back in yet as nothing is different yet.
