Ah, yes, I'd missed programs were running -- in fact that GFA picture rules out even a shifter memory read failure.

The Mega STE continues to work.
The contacts were cleaned yesterday, and the SIMMs changed so that they all have the same speed.
One of the memory supports is damaged... This can cause a loss of contact.
But then why does the Mega STE still work properly without the ACSI2STM and not with it?

Just some wild guesses :
  • The damaged memory support => poor contact, slower to transmit signal (noise)
  • When there is ACSI, more bandwidth allocated to the DMA chip ==> less time allocated for memory to drive the data line
  • When there is ACSI, more noise due to DMA chip activity, that adds up to the intrinsic noise of the damaged memory module ==> the problem becomes visible on the screen.

Have you asked the company this where you purchased ACSI2STM ? Really they should be providing you with support.

Have you checked the computer(s) with a diagnostic cartridge?

I didn't try it when the problem was there, now it doesn't matter...
I can't recreate the problem, and I don't want to
