V1.5 booster compatibility issues with ultrasatan

V1.5 booster.
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1018

STABILITY ISSUES V1.5
There seems to be a mixed bag of if the integrated blitter motherboards work or not. As such I am not recommending fitting the V1 or V1.5 plug in booster to those type of motherboards.

HARD DRIVE ISSUES V1.5
Issues with the hard drive Generally not been found or running unstable in "boosted mode" (working fine in 8MHz mode), needs the pull-up resistors on the DMA databus. As shown in this post.. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1417#p15270

If this does not solve the problem then the firmware must be reprogrammed with the file below.

V1D.zip
(709 Bytes) Downloaded 20 times
This will also need pin 1 lifting away from the PCB, then wired to a 33R resistor and wired to pin 4 of the 74F257 (U405) which is how the V1 booster is wired. With this modification the booster will run at 32MHz (not 36Mhz or 40Mhz which is the built on oscillator).

FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
I have taken this booster of sale the time being, maybe indefinitely I am not sure yet. I may produce a small batch in the coming months which wire up as the V1 did. Though as there is hardly any demand these boosters, it is not going to be high up on my to do list.

if you decide to do another run of boosters that are stable, I'd take one. Thanks.

The issues are fixed. I do have 4 more made up, but need the GAL changing for the new firmware, but its not high up on my to do list.

If I did do another batch, I would likely do the original V1 design. I am just getting to many failures with the plug in ones, to many issues from start to end. It came about as people couldn't unsolder the CPU socket without killing their ST. So its basically dumped a lot of work onto me to develop a plug in solution. It be easier if people just sent their machine off for the booster to be fitted as I am just footing all the costs for it all instead.

Even so, with so many issues with GAL's and bad sockets etc I would need to redesign the board anyway and retest the whole thing again. I just don't see its a good project to invest time into. I would rather spend time on the STF remake board.

Thats too bad, but I get it and thanks for the response. I cracked open my STe and was excited to see the CPU is socketed and I wouldn't have to do ("have someone do" would be a lot smarter) major surgery. Guess I'll just do the MC68HC000 CPU swap that I was planning when I stumbled upon the booster in your store.
