Hey guys: I.Just bought a Mega ST 4 with keyboard and mouse for $240 US plus shipping came to a little over $300 US. Thing is it says Mega ST4 on the top and Mega ST ,2 on the bottom. Turns on but the guy has no monitor to test it but he says the hard drive spins up and the machine comes on , other than that he knows nothing about them. Here are pictures from the eBay sale.
From what you can see did I get a good deal , ie: do these machines go for more than this?

I think I had this conversation a few weeks ago as I have some megss I want to sell soon. I think people would pay about 80 for one which is in good condition. Though I don't have the keyboard for them so they would add some values.

So the seller must be hearing things since the mega st doesn't have an internal hard drive.
When looking at the board does it have 2 or 4 meg of memory?

Ya, I agree its possible but based on the sellers "couldn't test" and 2/4 meg case parts begs the question has much was the seller drinking when he heard the hard disk spin up? Its much more likely that he heard the floppy!! I'll bet ya 10 bucks there's no hard disk..Atarian Computing wrote: ↑Sun Jan 27, 2019 4:02 pmIt does have an expansion card. Could also have an internal HD. They do exist.

Yeah, I'd take that bet if this was a European unit so I agree that it's unlikely. I am interested in what the expansion is though.PaulJ wrote: ↑Sun Jan 27, 2019 4:38 pmYa, I agree its possible but based on the sellers "couldn't test" and 2/4 meg case parts begs the question has much was the seller drinking when he heard the hard disk spin up? Its a 9 pin serial connector which is a more common addition. Who knows? Maybe when the mega is opened we can get the true extent of what's in the box.

And I'm betting on a tos switcher with the two wired.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Maybe just the loud fan he's hearing?
Re: Just bought a U S Atari Mega 4 for $240 US
He says it makes the classic sound of a Seagate HD spinning up he says any is coming from Virginia I will be getting it in about a week or two. And it weighs 20' pounds so something extra is in it. It is insured for $300 US so if it is not what he says it is then I could make a claim. I am.almost betting on the fact that it has more in it than he knows about. At least I am hoping. Russ
