He is talking about using something like 74LS244, which can be used as a bidirectional bus transceiver. Buffering the address and databus for example, and can also be used to isolate the bus if necessary.

Similar was done on the DMA port on the STE for example.

Screen Clips

Every STacy owner who's ever opened up their computer knows of the screen clips in question. My 2 units had most of the clips broken and various botched methods were used to fix it. I came up with the following fix and it's pretty perfect.

Late to the party but I've been following this thread which is very
interesting.

As far as I know, best I could determine was that that STacy's
TOS version is pretty much identical to TOS v1.04. I know that
Brad told me he thought it was different because of the shadow
chip too. I did rip the TOS though and posted it somewhere (forgot
where exactly now) but some of the more knowledgeable people
looked it over and said it was the same (I think one of them was
PPera, IIRC).

As exxos said, 74ls245 (bi-directional so that bus masters can be on either side of the adapter) with control logic for the /DIR pin of the buffer chip.
If you're not afraid of SMD .. 74ABT16245 .. 16 bit bi-directional buffers.

I think this will do. Will have to clean it up a bit. I’ll look at painting it if I decide to paint the STacy.

Holy crap! I had no idea how awesome CosmosEx is! Mine came with Raspberry Pi 3 so I had built in WiFi. I have a freakin’ CIFS shared drive on my TOS desktop wirelessly. Shared drive is on my Synology. This just blows my mind that this is actually on an almost 30 year old STacy.

Yes its pretty cool . I have a folder on my PC desktop which is my Atari c: drive over WiFi

One of my STacy units had all the caps replaced. They did a pretty poor job aesthetically and possibly functionally as it is exhibiting classic bad cap symptoms. That inspired me to do a complete list of STacy caps using schematics and my other unit as reference. Here is the link to the PDF. I have used original specs.
