Falcon love
Re: Falcon love
@Plagued yes, please post the STL files in the 3d section.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.
Re: Falcon love
Very nice little case! Definitely upload the stl.
Out of curiosity, what software is the sticker above your F-keys for?

Re: Falcon love
I do believe it's for Apex Media, as that's the package I used the most .... but it's been a ... few ... years so I can't quite be 100%
@PhilC STL are in the 3d section (pending moderators approval)
Re: Falcon love
Stage 1 is complete... the PSU is recapped and the falcon still boots. I will admit a slight error on my part which was I didn't put enough load on the 5v when testing. I couldn't find my 5v load tester so I wired up a power bank to charge expecting it to pull around 1.5-2A. In short it didn't, and I spent nearly 3 hours trying to diagnose an issue I didn't have
However I'm now onto recapping the mainboard. All the caps are off but I'd bought some film caps for the 1/2.2/3.3/4.7uf caps and they're way too big for my liking, apart from the 1uf which will still fit.
So do I:
1) Go back and buy the specific values in electrolytic (I'm sticking with panasonic caps where possible).
2) Upgrade to Polymer caps and adapt to fit.
3) Just use some decent quality 10uf 50v electrolytic caps I have (I've not checked at all yet what any of these caps are feeding)

Re: Falcon love
Well I used large film caps in mine, yeah they're ugly and hard to fit but at the end of the day it's function over form for things you cannot see under casing.
Here is a post that has mouser part numbers listed towards the end:

Re: Falcon love
I can't bring myself to shoehorn the larger film caps in place. I think I'll just go with 50v electrolytic of the same value. While I appreciate film are better at this low a value but the electrolytic ones on the board have lasted over 20 years without issue.
Re: Falcon love
BEHOLD! Full recap, RTC replaced, clock patch applied, RAM upgraded to a whole 14MB
If you could all pretend to be jealous of my shiny new falcon that would make me feel better about the grief I've got from the Mrs
