Hi @exxos ,
This looks great, I've recently fired up my 1040STFM (with C070789 Rev D board) and am planning to spec it up as much as possible.
I just received a Cosmosex 3 which I was planning to use for the Floppy and Hard Drive sides of things.
One thing I would like is that all the additions are switchable...
So, to max it out would the following be the right way to go?
1) do all the mandatory fixes (as specified in this post)
2) add the 2021 Booster [0212] (i.e. the one in this post). I assume this is 8Mhz switchable?
3) PLCC68 FUNKY SOCKET ADAPTER [0113] + MM9092V (Sourced elsewhere) - Is this switchable? if not could it cause compatibility issues if installed?
4) STFM 4MB RAM EXPANSION [0091]
Does that seem like the right list of things to add and should all work together?
Also, I was looking at the STFM KIT DUAL TOS [0131]
* The shop metions there is a new verion with UBE in development. I assume i should wait for that. any word?
* Can an STFM (as speced above) run TOS 2.06? Or are there further mods needed?
Thanks alot
Guy
Spec out a stfm
Re: Spec out a stfm
The booster can switch to 8mhz mode by a switch. It supports TOS206...
You must have read a old thread about the ube and dualtos, it had been in production for about a year and been discontinued since several months ago.
The glitter can be turned off in the desktop menu.. I've not really known it cause any issues in general. changing TOS version to 206 will probably have the most impact. Demos and some game menus won't like 16mhz either. Its why it has a 8mhz switch..

Re: Spec out a stfm
Great, thanks for the info.
I must admit I am still confused about the accelerator and dual TOS boards...
This is the 16Mhz booster: 16MHz ST BOOSTER REV 1.4 £65 3 In Stock [0212]
I get this!
If I wanted to do a dual TOS for 1.02 and 1.04 I would simply need:
does that mean, I need to also get one of these: STFM KIT DUAL TOS (NO ROM) £22 18 In Stock [0131]
and one of these roms: TOS104 / TOS102 ROM ENGLISH £12 22 In Stock [0042]
But If I wanted to a Dual TOS with 1.04 / 2.06 I would need:
(what looks like the same board as the accelator) the 2.06 decoder: TOS206 ST DECODER BOARD REV1.4 £25 2 In Stock [0172]
Do I stack that underneath the 16MHz ST BOOSTER?
In the store, on the 2.06 decoder there is this note: "NOTE : You will need a DUALTOS board & ROM to use this on a original ST machine. H4 boards only require the DUALTOS ROM."
which I assume is one of these like above: STFM KIT DUAL TOS (NO ROM) £22 18 In Stock [0131]
and one of these roms: DUAL TOS ROM 1.04/2.06 ENGLISH £10 13 In Stock [0050]
Thanks, sorry for all the questions, just trying to get my head around the options!

Re: Spec out a stfm
Your basically right but you don't need a decoder board as the booster has it built in anyway..
So you need the booster, dualtos ROM board, and the ROM itself. I would suggest going for the 104 / 206 ROM.
If you click the "I" button on the booster in the store it takes you to the install page and explains it all anyway..

Re: Spec out a stfm
Great, thanks for the update.
One last clarification, can I also use the 1.02/1.04 Rom with 'the booster + dualtos ROM board'?
I'm tempted to get both ROM 1.02+1.04 and the 1.04+2.06, in case I run into compatibility issues (I have read some music software, which is what I'm most interested in will only run on 1.02, but I am not sure how true that is...)
