Suska board

Post by exxos »

I've emailed Wolfgang and asked to run Troed's closure demo...

Any others demos which make good tests ?

I will seriously consider buying a suska to evaluate the whole thing compatibility wise..

I emailed him as well, asking how well demos and games work with the Suska. :-)
I'll post any information I receive in this thread.

Emails back-and-forth are going really slowly..He doesn't seem to understand how disc images work. He keeps asking me to extract the files on Troed's Closure demo. I keep telling him he won't let me do this he needs to use JayMSA on the ST to write the image back to real floppy.. I told him this three times now and he keeps just asking me to send him extracted files

This kind of puts me off buying the Suska, as if I cannot explain to him even something which should be simple like disc images, then I don't really stand a chance of collaborating with him on anything more complicated :(

It's not about letting ... there are no files :P It's true old school track loading. There exists no filed debug version either, I use all memory from $200 and up so bye bye TOS after the bootsector has executed. Rewriting all the glue code for 2MB machines, while fully possible, is not on my todo ..

Yeah its what I thought :) either that or some sort of voodoo wizardry. I said to wolfgang its a special disk with no FAT about a hour ago.. see if he gets it this time..

As a side note, we seem to have a few German guys about, I wonder if anyone could rush him out the demo on a real floppy ? I can of course send it from here (UK) but it would take a few days to get to him.

I don't think anything is simple unless you've done it before? If you have never been involved in the demo scene, cracking games etc then the whole world of floppy imaging formats and programs is new. I expect most people who know of disk imaging would start with dd which is obviously never going to work with an MSA file etc

A small update -

Wolfgang tried the demo.. and got this.. which is to be expected...

He seems interested in adding wakestate support to Suska.. but could be a while.

Meanwhile, I have asked him to try GB6 to see what happens...

Nice! At least now we know :)
I still think the Suska is probably the best base we have for replacing failing component and hard to find one.
Working ones : MegaSTE (68020) / TT030 / Falcon with AB040 & Eclipse / 1040STF
Need testing : Falcon with CT2

Yes indeed. Its open source so we can make changes. I still want to re-create the blitter with the suska code. If it goes ok then can start on the MMU and GLUE.

I'm still not sure if to invest in the complete suska or not.
