NEC MultiSync EA190M

Bought myself one of these cheap second-hand as I needed a high-res monitor...

Out of the box, the default settings are pretty awful. You can see clearly there is scaling issues...

The only way to fix this is to manually alter the horizontal width..

You can see the banding in the background image, the banding sizing gaps get larger and larger and fainter and fainter as the horizontal is increased until ultimately they disappear...

Because I took a picture of this with my digital camera, and then had to resize images, and compress them a little the image quality looks a little worse than it actually is on screen..

Overall the monitor seems to works fine in all three resolutions. There does not seem to be anything nasty in the image overall. I think it looks pretty decent really.

The only downside I see is that the image is a little bit out of focus, it would have been nice if the monitor had some sort of sharpness setting, but I cannot find one.

Of course, there is no focus setting on LCD monitors. To get sharp picture from analog input with low res, you need to set width and hor. pos. very accurately - so, that pixels of source video match dots of LCD screen - of course, 1 ST low res dot will span over 3-6 LCD dots (320x6=1920) .
But if A-D converter in monitor is not that good it will be never much sharp.
