While the site still live...

http://atarimusic.exxosforum.co.uk/

I had to reprogram a hell of a lot of scripts get it to run on my server at all while ago. Unfortunately I had to start disabling some modules relating to the site as it is just streaming out errors in my log files like there is no tomorrow!

So far the main title newsfeed box which was on the homepage is to have vanished, but the newsfeed items were causing a lot of errors so unfortunately this is unlikely to be resolved. As I should have been copied back over to the original website url, though unfortunately someone else managed to register to this some months ago so the site is basically in limbo. I was hoping when it was copied back to the original url a lot of things would start working again. But this seems unlikely to happen. I don't think the online music jukebox works any longer , and I don't think the new album pages work any longer , I don't know if anything else is broken either.. But basically the site has been like this even before I took over. There was something like 7GB of error logs originally! While I patched a lot of then, I cannot simply spend an infinite amount of time fixing things.

As many know I started copying old articles and content over to this forum to preserve it, along with all the MP3's and such. Is still ongoing and will take a while to complete.

Long-term I regret I think I will just have to close the site down. Is just a whole mess of Joomla stuff where I had to do a lot of manual patching to hundreds of scripts to get it to work at all on my server. Needless to say the site is various levels of broken to say the least. But it was actually functional and working as it was before. Though obviously nobody uses the forum anymore(actually disabled new registrations a while ago) or upload any tunes any more (it does work as I uploaded test album). They people seem to use of the third party sites including sound cloud and youtube etc. so basically the site has been dead for a really long time.

Am not planning on taking it down any time soon, and will not do so until all content is copied over fully and all the download files links and locations are fixed as well. Sadly there is a lot of broken links were not sure if they were broken originally, or when I ported it over to my server. But I am going through them slowly one by one and copying the download links and fixing them for the forum. Overall no content I hope will be lost, or at least if there is, it will not be anything particularly important.

As people know I took over the site from Malcolm as he did not have time or much interest in music things of late, so I kept it running as I did not want to lose another long-term Atari site. I think realistically, time probably nearly upon us just to give up on this site.

I was working on a new site for it a couple years ago, where it would replace a lot of the pages with new scripts which was able to connect to the Joomla! database and basically act as the site it before but with a new user interface. Though like a lot of things, it is a huge epic of work basely recreate the whole site where practically no one would use it anyway.

Anything im not really sure about is the information relating to the MP3 themselves. Authors generally wrote a little bit of information to go along with their albums, and I'm not really sure to do with this information currently. Of course going through every album and MP3 extracting bits of information would likely be a huge undertaking. So not really sure it is worth try to keep this information or not. I think all the authors have long since vanished, the course website links from years ago are likely to be broken anyway now. I will see if I could think up something.. A lot of albums don't really have much information other than what sound equipment they use created, and even that by the looks of it, pretty remote.

I will post any more progress on this page, mostly just working through all the articles and forum posts at the moment this could likely be going on for a couple years yet..

I've done some patching to the script I was working on when I started doing the new site.. Basically looks like this..

1.JPG
1.JPG (106.66 KiB) Viewed 16523 times

Where the blue section represents the author's main profile , and the red boxes represent each album the author has uploaded..

Then clicking on show the song list will expand the boxes with the MP3s they uploaded..

2.JPG
2.JPG (165.04 KiB) Viewed 16523 times

A lot of information is simply missing, as the author either did not type anything, or upload any images etc. but the list is as complete as it can be now.

With all the MP3s link to that page, this basically represents the entire music content of the website and relative information. So ultimately I will upload this page as a standalone HTML page with all the MP3s in the same folder. Currently it is a PHP script reading directly the contents from the database. So once it is completed, could be archived as a simple zip file. Basically no content will be lost, or at least not anything relevant.

Of course all the articles I am slowly going over as previously mentioned, and will also transfer all the downloads files over to this forum in due time..

There is a lot of articles to still upload, a lot of it is saving the images and text and uploading it to the forum, though does get a bit complicated because of download links not yet done, and also links to other pages which are not yet done.. But if anyone can spare some time to help me work through the pages then please let me know.

Right, the site "should" actually play audio now...

http://atarimusic.exxosforum.co.uk/

Seems chrome just throws up errors when flash is disabled, other browsers ask to enable it...

In chrome goto...
chrome://settings/content/flash

Enable flash and add http://atarimusic.exxosforum.co.uk/ into the list, then you should get the player up.. .

The site is "Broken" again , not sure how long its been like that, it was working before. Seems the subdomain URL isn't working because letsencrypt doesn't support sub domains  But the URL https://exxosforum.co.uk/atarimusic.net does still work. However the music player seems broken. The site is throwing up all sorts of errors again. I think as I said before, the site is just impossible to keep online anymore, So saving the content is the only way forward.

I did start to convert the site into basic HTML and even created the menu bar and links to pages, but creating a new site is considerable amount of work, to which I think just preserving the content on here (forum) is just a better use of time. Mostly people only seem to be using the site for downloads. Itself as a site to share music etc has long since gone. So the site doesn't really have a use anymore.

As requested before, if anyone can spend some time to help convert all the articles over then give me a shout. They are all basically HTML pages with graphics where the text and images need "transplanting" over to the forum like I have done with many other articles so far. The hard part is there are some links to other pages and downloads to pages which haven't been done yet either. So needs someone who can keep track of it all and port all the articles over for me. Theres about 70 html pages to port over.. a few will be a mash up of download pages, where likely 10 of those pages could go on a single download page.

Right, the Music site is actually working, but only in internet exploder

It seems browsers are redirecting the site to https, which letsencrypt doesn't support subdomains for https, so the browsers are moaning about it.

The only work around is to visit the "folder url" https://exxosforum.co.uk/atarimusic.net/ but the music player isn't working. Loads of script errors, so who knows whats up with all that.

EDIT: OK oddly both URL's work in internet explorer with sound ...

EDIT2: both urls now loading , but still no sound in chrome etc.. likely the sound plugins were IE only :(

I have found the site to be working around 2 weeks ag0 - but attempted to visit today and was met with this:

jtablesession::Store Failed
DB function failed with error number 144
Table './atarimus/jos_session' is marked as crashed and last (automatic?) repair failed SQL=INSERT INTO `jos_session` ( `session_id`,`time`,`username`,`gid`,`guest`,`client_id` ) VALUES ( 'rcftep45ejde5p77hvk08qu2q6','1588115246','','0','1','0' )

I was about to recommend it to another person but i guess it's down again?

doesn't work with |Chrome or MS Edge.

It was working the order day. Will look into it tomorrow. Though the site contents is slowly being transfered over to this forum as keeping the site online is getting near impossible as time goes on.
