I used to use the HP1662 some 20+years ago... absolutely fantastic. I think you got a bargain there. :-D :-D

Yup. They are often available for around the 200 mark

E.g..

Needs cables but has a network card.

FWIW I just upgraded my DSLogic Basic to DSLogic Plus. Only difference is more memory (256MBit) and then you edit the eeprom to change model identifier. Makes it even more value for money - the memory IC is dirt cheap.

I now have 2 x 166x Series Logic Analysers both networked. Very happy with them.

I recently had this argument with Renee from Buffee... She insisted her USB LA was fine...

So i simply bought her an HP1661CS and shipped it to her... Completely converted in seconds. Her only complaint is its bending her shelves.

Dont mess about. Get an old HP.

The old kit gets my vote too but I went the Tektronix route.

I have a tla704 with 136 channel LA and 2 channel scope. Cost me $50 + $70 for shipping

Alright. Shipping was a killer but I'm sure it's worth it. Need to find probe tip assemblies. All the probe cables are included though.

@terriblefire Do I need HP's scope probes on this?

Here is an informative, entertaining, & intelligent discussion of economical logic analysers, their construction, and how they can be used with the open-source program PulseView. The narrator mentions in the video that one ought to make the additional investment and get quality clips such as those Made in the USA by EZ-Hook because the shoddy Chinese clips fall off.
