Are Bypass Capacitors REALLY needed?

Post by exxos »

Dave Jones doing another interesting video.

It touches on PCB layout issues vs noise, that is what I spend a lot of time fighting on the ST!

For people who don't know basic electronics, then sure, video is useful.

His vids are always gonna be controversial, if I wanna watch one of his vids, I rip it, then drop the audio by an octave lol. He's a bit anal at times, but not as bad as that Carlson guy, man is he verbose.

I don't watch all the vids, but he does tend to waffle on fair bit. Though probably better for more beginners, I'm just sat saying "get to the point" mostly, Though I am more of a facts with bullet points person, says me,

I dunno about you guys but I find myself editing on the fly (L to fast forward 10 seconds on YT) just to get past a lot of spiel that's not needed, or to bypass repetitive stuff. Also the Wadsworth consonant is real. If it's someone I like listening to, say big clive or ave, I'll happily sit and listen, but for general vids wher you are looking for definite solution to a problem, most of it is junk, and filled with "uh" and "erm" etc.

I find the videos are way more succinct than the 4 years of undergraduate training I did. Plus I find I listen to them while doing other things.

EDIT: also remember that people learn in different ways. For a familiar topic you might be able to read a dry document and add that to the sum of your current knowledge. When learning new topics a slower pace with context is much more helpful.
