The Union Demo on gotek?

One demo I remember with particular fondness from my youth is the union demo. However, my ST has no floppy drive and I can't find it in a format that the gotek likes. I seem to recall it had some form of copy protection on it and could only be copied using a utility in the demo itself?

That said, anyone got any ideas how I could get this demo loaded up onto my gotek drive?

All ideas welcome!

Thanks that's really helpful. I'm guessing that if I install an ST emulator on pc, that I can copy the prg file to a blank disc image and then transfer that to gotek?

Likely to work?

If you use the HxC firmware on your Gotek, you can also use the provided software for Windows to manipulate disk images (e.g. copy files to and from them) without going via an emulator.

I've not tried the HxC options myself, all my Goteks are FlashFloppy, but I find it useful to have an emulator on hand anyway, I use a mixture of STeem SSE and Hatari.

Both allow for a GEMDOS folder, which is essentially a Windows folder you can drop Atari software into, that you can use as a hard drive.

For making blank .ST disk images, I tend to use Hatari, it's quick and easy to create a blank disk image from the control panel, drop stuff into the image from the GEMDOS folder. It's almost like using the emulator as a file manager.

In case you're interested, there are some useful disk tools here https://sites.google.com/site/stessential/disks-tools and here http://www.emulators.com/explorer.htm

Floimg http://atari.8bitchip.info/floimgd.php is also very handy, but it does require a real floppy drive to be installed in your PC, and although some people have reported success with USB floppy drives, I've never had any luck myself.

I got the prg file onto a blank disc image via an emulator and that worked great - thanks for the info.

Problem is that the prg file is just the cracktro to the demo, not the demo itself. I still haven't been able to find the actual union demo copy protection free, so all ideas still welcome 🤔

If you go here https://demozoo.org/productions/68152/
and scroll down to the "packed in" section
There are 4 versions of the demo available.
this one maybe works, but it says it's for harddisks and 2MB, so you need to try yourself https://demozoo.org/productions/162449/
Else you go with the filed version, but it's the screens separate, not the full demo experience https://demozoo.org/productions/185711/
the 2 others look like they include a copy program to replicate the demo protection, so they are not cracked.

I know that it is much more convenient to run a crack, but note that the Gotek can run copy protected images.
