Post by rubber_jonnie »

I've just managed to get an Acorn Electron off stardot for the price of just the postage. Talk about being in the right place at the right time.....

Anyways, I have no idea if it'll work or not, but I'll post more when it arrives :)

Anyway, let's hope that you don't have to clean the ULA and socket on the Elk.

And it's on the way, estimate for delivery is Wednesday, all for the princely sum of £8.

Very generously donated for just the cost of postage.

And she's here!!!

Here's the machine itself:

Obviously a good clean inside and out is needed.

And here is the very clean PCB:

There is some corrosion on the edge connector, but nothing that can't be cleaned up easily. Otherwise just a little dust. The ULA is soldered in, and the board is issue 6.

The keyboard ribbon is a bit nasty, so will need looking at, but I don't see it as being a hard repair:

And finally, just for fun, here is the size comparison, Electron to BBC Model B. Quite the difference!!

Having a quick look over lunchtime, I can see the 19VAC PSU is working, as is the connector to the internal power board and the 19VAC to the edge connector, but I get nothing at all at the +-5v connector, so off to find the power board schematics to figure out what's going on.
