I do want to do that, but problem being like I had with the STE boosters, not all CPU's can overclock the same, and I don't know top speed unless I try it out on every CPU. So if I went SMT, I would have to do them all as 50MHz and hope for the best.

Yeah I did think about that. I've only tried the one SEC the you've sent me and will get myself some other oscillators to test on it but so far it looks good for either 32 50 and 64. So not too much messing around if you change them with hot air. Obviously not as easy as through hole though.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

I am hoping 64 will work on all. Though trying 3 oscillators may not sound much, but do it like 50 times and .. well.. nope :)

I may see if I can put the SMT footprint on the rear of the PCB though anyway.

Managed to squash it under the DIP OSC. Also moved it all to the right so I can try and route the 4 pads to the PLD for the SRAM controls.

Managed to squash it all in..

Need to tweak the firmware as I moved a load of pins around on the PLD

EDIT:

For those not keeping up, those 4 headers are the IO drive to the fast-ram board... https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... 813#p21813

Not much progress due to a million other things going on as normal. BUT, I have just come across the box with the assembled SRAM boards in :D

So hopefully one day (this year!) I can plug the SEC booster into this SRAM board and we should get some super fast alt-ram with this combo!
