Hi All,

can anyone recommend a filament thats a good match to the ST case. Everything I've seen so far is either grey thats too dark or white.

thanks.

While I don't have an answer (yet) I'm too interested in finding a list of filament that match the ST/STE , Mega ST, MegaSTE and TT (which is not grey).
I did a quick image search on google for "grey ABS filament" but it's hard to gauge even with a screen that is color calibrated. I looked for ABS but PLA would also be ok as long as we can find a color match.

Edit :
Apparently the color for the ST case is RAL 7038, I found some filament with that color but hard to tell :

Edit 2 :
RAL 7038 is smack between Pantone 413U and 414U ... so only testing will say

Thank you. Will see if I can find something in the UK cheaper but with that paint code and see what it prints like.

Latest update, to get the filament above would end up costing me about £45-£50 specially made, so I am considering printing it with the grey I already have and then painting them.

I think this may be somehow helpful:

I was painting with RAL7044 and it is at least one tone too light.

Thanks, that is useful. I will take a panel with me and get it colour matched when I buy the paint.

Due to surface structure of original case, colors look different on it than on shiny sample. I was painting with glossy paint and it wasn't too shiny, but I thing a better choice would be semi-gloss/satin, especially for painting on 3D printouts. When painting on plastic you have to use plastic primer. I'm positively surprised with the hardness/durability of the paint, I was using Motip/Dupli Color series paints (they specialize in automotive paints).

Thanks, will see what I can find. I need to bond the 3d printed parts to a mega case initially, what would you suggest I use as a glue/ filler?

Superglue works well on ABS printed part. But.. be careful as it act as a solvent for ABS, so it's ok to glue 2 parts together, not so much to fill holes and gaps.
