Good idea with the video board, I removed all of the black plastic spacers when I did mine.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Snap - I did to and then it made it more difficult to line the pins up when putting the video board into the main board.

Exxos - while you have the soldering iron out might want to desolder the XTAL and put in a socket so you can replace with other XTALs

Yeah, I need to take this out anyway as the assembly company did not solder that resistor which half goes under it..
