Well, nobody can say they put an 030 on the STF remake before me
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.
Re: Forgottenmyname - Progress - Part 2
Doing some more soldering tonight, won't be too far off ready to fire up the board by the end of tonights efforts.
I'm fitting the DAC shifter board to this STF but can't remember how much of the RGB circuit I no longer need as I'm not soldering if I don't need to

You don't need any of the RGB section, the DAC boards takes the RGB outputs direct from the shifter, so nothing after that is needed.

thats what I thought but wasn't sure, thanks very much.

Re: Forgottenmyname - Progress - Part 2
That's all the caps, chips, Sils and 50% of the resistors done.
The first switch on will be minus a lot of the ports. Firstly because I'm not likely to use things like the midi and parallel port but also because because some of them are a pain in the bum to unsolved, so will probably just use headers for things like RX and TX on the serial port etc.
Need to get another cart port from somewhere, so will probably have to look for a donor motherboard somewhere.
No time to look at the old STF board yet but once this one is finished, I'm determined to get it working again.
If nothing else, this has been a big learning experience. Before I'd started with this lot I had no idea what/dtack and /bgack were. I was more used to fixing 8 bit computers.

Re: Forgottenmyname - Progress - Part 2
Just enjoying doing all the Alpha patches but got interrupted by the wife, wanting to do Christmassy things.
Looking terminal for the old STF board, which is a shame. most of the solder pads pulled off as I removed the monitor unf*ck board, so will likely use that as the donor for the mongrel board when its ready
Hoping to press the power on button sometime over the weekend.

Good luck on the power-on. Shame the old board is no more. Rack it up to the cause.Forgottenmyname wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 9:02 pm Just enjoying doing all the Alpha patches but got interrupted by the wife, wanting to do Christmassy things.
