I think that the main difference in this regard is 4 layers instead of two, making for a proper ground plane.

No its massively more than this. I basically spent a month doing what your doing to the clock lines and got nowhere. I completely redesigned the topology of the clock. I no longer sell the TF530 because of this.

So terrible fire, would recomend bypassing the 530 and go directly to the 534? I didn't place the order for the 534's since I was going to build the 530's first. Sounds like maybe I should just bypass the 530's. The 534's gave me pause due to one of the cpld's has a smaller pin pitch than the cpld's used on the 530. You get more RAM, better clocks and you can use existing ZII ram which you cant with the 530.. and 44pin IDE.. The pitch is a bit harder but not massively so.
