I tried swapping them over. Also swapped Gary.

I'll try removing it completely

Ok behaviour change today.. no longer even fans up and this chip gets hot.. v hot

I’ve not swapped CIA yet.. could this chip have died?

Wait no.. this chip getting hot in the corner were A11 is connected to it and A11 is now firmly tied to ground.. Weird.

ok now the short is gone but that chip just gets hot and the psu doesnt come on.

I think this maching is fscking with me.

I really hope that you don't throw it away. Put it in the attic or send it to someone who has got the time to mess with it.
A kludge is a workaround or quick-and-dirty solution that is clumsy, inelegant, inefficient, difficult to extend and hard to maintain.

well it cost me 200 quid and i'm gonna put an axe through it... CDTV is my least fav ever Amiga now.

I know the feeling, but pleeeease resist the urge! (And if you don't, film it and put it on YouTube ;) )

I used to sell Amigas back in the day and it was my least favourite too, that and we hardly sold any.
