I'd check your solder joints on the IDE header pins - I've had cases where the solder mask was a bit iffy and you get a short to ground with some of the through holes. I'm guessing you've already checked over the cplds a hundred times? Why not post a close-up pic of both sides of the board - maybe someone can spot something...

So, I've reflowed the RAM CPLD, and now it's somewhat working. KS 3.1.4 detects the CF card and boots from it happily (albeit with quite a long delay on power up, ~48 seconds from power up until I get to the kickstart menu when holding down both mouse buttons). The weird thing is that neither KS 2.05, 3.1 nor DiagROM detects the CF card. I might have a bad solder joint somewhere else, but this is really weird. Crazy fast, though

Sounds like the resistors maybe a bit squirly. 2K or 1K?

But it seems to work fine with 1K resistors according to... Was it 8 Bit Dreams that used them?

Yeah, I know. And I know the BOM says 2K2, but I already had a stash of 1K's and the import fees would be freakishly high for just a resistor order. And I'm sure one of the builders said that they were using them.
Oh well... Might try to swap them out.
Are the values of the resistors and resistor networks equally important? I can find SMD resistors easily here in Sweden (I might even have some in a box somewhere), but the 2K2 RN's are much harder to find with reasonable shipping and import fees.

I used 1K resistor networks in my build. As for the other resistors, I used 2.2K and 47K, per the BOM.

I might try to swap out the 1K 0603’s for 2K2’s and see if it makes a difference.
