Finally had time tonight to burn Emutos to eprom. I tried the 256k version and this works to an extent but crashes on file access but then I am using it with Icky and exxos IDE board as I have no other way to do the address decoding for tos2.06 etc.

When I try and boot it off of the 192K version it doesn't make it anywhere near desktop, just gives the same error codes all the time.

The card seems to test fine with the ST version of Diagrom, shows 2mb chip and 1920k fast ram which is odd, should this show more or does this bit need adapting for the ST? Its possible its a ram fault I guess.

My second 534 is all programmed with the same firmware but refuses to boot, so I know I have a bit of dodgy soldeing somewhere, I just need to look over it all again and find it. The problem with my last 534 was that one of the resistor packs had a tiny blob of solder bridging it out. Removed that and off it went.

Will post the Emutos error codes when I get time.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

If I remember correctly EmuTOS 192K supports only 68000 due to its 6 byte stack frame (vs 8 on 68010 and newer)

Which is probably why it doesn't boot then. Will try again tomorrow with the 256 and 512k versions and see.

Thanks for that info Cyprian.

Oh wow, I would have thought emutos would have supported all cpus across all versions... Might be worth contacting Vince and asking about it... I'm sure Stephan had emutos working on a a TF board a while ago ?

As for diagrom, I think the ram doesn't report correctly...

Edit:
I will see if I can find some time to start a tos206 board... Its a bit of a "repeat" project though, as the v2 booster, sec booster, IDE,RTC etc boards all do 206 anyway  I guess a simple method is just a board which solders on top of the CPU with 2 smt gals would be quick and dirty..

EmuTOS supports all 68k processors in 256k/512k versions. 192k is dedicated for plain ST (not E) with 68000. The reason is simply, there is no free ROM for additional features.

So the first TF534 now works with TOS 2.06 reliably thus far but I still need to make my own address decoder.

At the moment it's not detecting the FPU for some reason and I haven't been able to access the extra ram yet, mainly because I have no idea how to enable it.

Anyway, here's a quick GB benchmark, which shows the CPU is working great but everything else is slower compared to a standard STFM.

Once I can get everything else tweaked I'll post it again with better figures but for now, just glad its alive and working.

It seems display figures are impacted by slow RAM and ROM access.
Would be possible to remap Emutos from ROM to TF534 ram?

I'm sure you are right but for now, that's beyond my level of experience.

If nothing else, this is verification that the TF534 does work on the Atari ST, which is the first step for a modern Atari 030 booster.

And I've learnt a lot in the way of SMT soldering whilst putting these together.

maybe we can buy the ST for TerribleFire, and he could improve the FPGA code?

He does already have one, hes just likes all and has lots of projects and not enough time.

I'm sure if more interest is paid my us Atari guys that TF will spend a little more time developing for it too.
