Thanks for that TF,

Well, it appears the usual reason was responsible, my dodgy soldering on the larger CPLD, lol.

Top tip of the day, look at all small chips from more than one angle when trying to check for bridged pins.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Had an hour in between DIY, so I've got the TF534 working in my A500 plus with WB3.1

I had to remove the 50mhz oscillator and fit a 33mhz which was the only other speed I had but will try a 40mhz next time I order from farnell or RS.

So thanks for your help guys.

Need to get hold of KS3.1.4 some point and then put Magic WB on my CF card as suggested by Terriblefire.

Any advice for someone who will start building TF534?

This is the order I built mine in

Both CPLDs soldered first
Ram and buffer next
All the small surface mount stuff, from largest to smallest cos I used hot air method.
Check everything is soldered correctly, with no loose or bridged pins. For this you will need a microscope, its impossible to do with a magnifier.
Solder in the cpu sockets
Solder in the headers.
Clean board of all flux, solder balls etc.
Obtain a copy of Diagrom 1.2. As standard it will show 4096kb fast ram if you've soldered it all up right.
Run the manual memory test with addresses 40000000 to 41000000 and don't even attempt to boot workbench until your memory passes 100%.

Hope that all helps.

You can do a minimal build with just the cplds and the 3.3 volt regulator. I believe with these components you can identify and program the cplds.

In my opinion, being able to program the cplds is a great first step.

Perhaps someone else can confirm what components are required for this minimal build.

I think I have everything except Diagrom 1.2. I have Diagrom but most likely 1.0.
