ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
@exxos' next iteration of this board are in the pcb pipeline with many of our other projects. Hoping to get these back soon as the factory production re-starts on the 10th.
Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
I will need to tweak the firmware. for example I passed /AS via the PLD just in case before, but removed it as it wasn't really used in the code and it saved 2 tracks on the PCB. So I need to tweak the firmware to remove such parts and re-test I didn't break anything.
I will make up a few kits for my store in due time as well. I may get a few assembled up, I really want a few of these boards for my own use anway.

Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
Looks like the new design will be good.
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but having fitted the beta interface to both my Megas this weekend, here's a couple of pics directly above for reference.
Also @exxos, is there any mileage in looking at a Megabus version of the IDE interface? Removing the CPU and fitting a socket can be off putting to some, or highlight other problems like on my Mega 4.
I guess there may be a limited market for Megas, which could make it uneconomical.

Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
There's no market full anything full stop problem is time, I've just got so many ongoing projects which need finishing first. But if I did do a version it may well be for the ste. But again, I'm struggling to get anywhere with current projects. Probably got 2 years work just trying to catch up on stuff trying to keep stock in my store soaks up most of my time already.rubber_jonnie wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 8:47 am I guess there may be a limited market for Megas, which could make it uneconomical.
EDIT:
That project is obsolete as well. We moved to Trudie, but thats got put on hold because I don't have time to figure out the byte swap code.

Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
Ok, got something that doing my noodle in and several hours of digging around the internet hasn't enlightened me...
My IDE interface is connected to a 2.5 inch PATA drive using a 40 pin IDE to 44 pin IDE adapter. Power comes in via a the usual Molex plug and some cable, with 5v coming to pins 41 and 42 of the 44 pin adapter, with GND coming in on pin 43.
The hard drive works fine and the ST boots from it.
Swapping out the PATA drive for a 44 pin IDE to SD card or 44 pin IDE to CF card fails however, and the PSU shows zero power being consumed by either adapter. Theoretically they should have the same pinouts, and therefore the power that drove the real hard drive should also be driving the SD and CF adapters plus card.
BTW the CF cards have been tested using a 40 pin CF adapter with a separated power input, and they work just fine. The 44 pin IDE to SD and IDE to CF adapters work if used with a USB to 44 pin adapter on my PC, so I know all components are good, plus the IDE to SD adapter also worked in my A1200.
I will meter or scope the power at the pins this weekend, but if anybody has any thoughts between now and then I'd be interested to hear.

Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
I use a SD to CF in my falcon without issues. its like one of these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3235226 ... 4c4dOZswUB there are some bugged controller chips on some of those adapter boards though...
EDIT:
CF to IDE I use these ones... https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/atari/store2/#0036 but much variation on those as well...
