Assembled H2 interest ?

I have started a new thread for this to see what people's thoughts on this are as I think the post went unnoticed before..

Basically as I will be sending off for my boards to be assembled for me, I can of course send more boards and more parts to be assembled for other people as well..

The bulk of the parts is of course things like sockets, resistors, capacitors, headers etc, but more in particular, the H2 does have a few bits of SMT now as well.. Some items I would buy in bulk to trying get the best prices on them and each board will have these basic parts assembled as standard.

I think the cost of assembling my board was about £40, but of course there was postage on top of that both ways, and the alpha parts list ended up being about £55 IIRC.. The H2 SMT chips they will add a little bit more on that people want the SMT MMU & GLUE soldering.. but I am basically making a guess that the basic parts and assembly would be somewhere around £130-£150. It also depends if people want connectors fitting ( which would be purchased from my store along with the motherboard).. Any items ordered from my store along with the motherboard, will of course go off to be assembled, so people can choose if they want such items fitting or they can do it themselves if they want to. I'm not doing any assembly myself, everything will be sent off to be done. So the prices will be set by the assembly company not by myself.

As said before, I'm not putting together kits of parts again.. So anybody wanting to assemble themselves, will have to purchase the parts themselves as well. Likely I will post a BOM with parts from Farnell as I order parts anyway.. I will mostly try and get the best deal on parts but of course I need to know how many people are interested in this so I can get best bulk prices and start ordering parts ready.

So if anybody wants their board to be assembled for them with this many parts as possible, then let me know and I can start thinking about a plan to getting these done.

There is a image of the board so far here if anyone wants to take a look..

I may start taking preorders for the motherboard in the near future as mentioned previously. This will give plenty of time for people to place a order for the board. Though please note that the production will not happen for a few months yet as I am still working on the motherboard at the moment.

It'll depend on the actual price for me. As you know I want 3 boards but may consider 1 assembled and 2 I do myself.

I'd do the sockets etc myself though, it's just the surface mount and boring component bit I'd be happy to give to someone else on the assembled ones. The sockets I'll do in my sleep :D

Sorry for late answer, it's sommer time ;)
I'm in need of help to when it comes to soldering. Not my domain.

I've indicated interest of two remake boards. Mostly to support the project.
And wish at least one complete remake board running :)

If I understand it correctly we need some Atari custom chips for the new remake board that can't be bought(?)
I also got one ST motherboard as donor. So I need to find someone who can do it for me (I'll pay for this of course). Any tip?

Kind regards!

A doner ST is needed for basically everything. I do have a lot of custom chips and connectors in my store, but a full doner ST may be a cheaper method chip wise, but likely increase soldering costs a bit as well, and maybe postage costs.

Stuff will be sent to the company I normally use, so you could send them the doner ST motherboard to take parts off for you. Depending where you are in the world, it maybe better to find someone locally to remove chips as I plan to fit sockets to everything anyway.

Hmm, I'll most likely build my own. That way if there are build errors I'll have no one to blame but myself. Out of curiosity does you builder use lead or lead free solder.

Exxos, do you have a target date for getting and for ordering the boards? Also when you pull the trigger could you provide a parts list. I have a lot of extra stuff from the remake but lots of things have changed and I'll need to go through and order required parts.

Anyway Exxos thanks for your efforts :thanksblue:  :thanksblue:  :thanksblue:  :thanksblue:

They seem to use leaded solder. I will post the parts list later, but like I said in the first post, there are no order codes for any parts yet.

I will start taking pre-orders over the next few weeks, but its not planned for production for maybe 2-4 months yet. I still have a lot of work to do on the board yet.

I know there is a couple of people who want their boards to be assembled ( I cannot remember who sorry). So basically anyone who wants their board assembled, will have to send me a message to basically not shipped their board. I will need your order number to do this.

But because of time limitations among other things at the moment, I may not be able to put together the parts for these until the New Year.

So I am going to assume at this point that everyone will have their boards shipped to them unless they tell me otherwise.
