Perhaps some other component is dodgy, like the power supply or A500 itself?

I had issues with it initially... Alen uses the pinstrip upside down compared to how I normally solder them (now ... I used to solder them that way round and had connection issues)

Can you post a pic of one of yours? I’m a little confused as to what you’re inferring.

The top half of the strip is longer and thinner. I orient it so the fatter bottom pins make contact with the Amiga

Hello! I'm confused as well, on the picture the bottom pins are thinner (meant
for socket) and top pins are fatter (solder side)...

But it doesnt work if you do that in my experience. The fatter pins fit nicely in turned pin sockets.

I’m not arguing what the manufacturer intended.. I’m just saying it doesn’t work.

Worth trying next time I build a board as the small pins are often too loose.

Is it a one shot thing TF? Ie does not damage the socket when inserted?
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

It’s not going to damage a turned pin socket. It will damage a square pin socket. I usually put a turned pin strip on my relocators.

I am gonna try soldering it the other way round next time. It just seemed logical to me that one would want longer pins on the bottom, but I guess I was wrong.
