Does it show the same behaviour if you try a different CF/SD adapter / card / cable ?

If it worked before then i suspect one of your solder joints has gone bad.

Also.. look at the resistor networks under the boards. Although i'd expect that would just not find the IDE interface. Also try out the IDE test kit with the special firmware and test.adf. this will check for stuck interrupts etc.

Try a different CF adapter and cable. The cheap Chinese ones break very easily (crappy solder)

I initially thought there was an issue with the IDE interface on my board since I saw similar behavior. Once I plugged in my CF card the IDE activity light would stay on and my A2000 would not boot. During my testing I got distracted my a phone call, and to my surprise the machine started booting after ~4-5 minutes.

At that point I remembered someone mentioning in another the 'causes of slow disk access' thread that a bitmap is created for the entire drive at boot, and a large boot disk with a small block size will cause long boot times. Sure enough I changed my boot drive to 512mb and now my A2000 boots within 30 seconds from IDE.
