Will run the auto router later today to see how the board looks.
I know you are very busy. Just wondering how the auto routing went?? Is it still running?
It finally completed after many crashes. For some reason Eagle is not very good at auto routing large boards. When it gets to the optimisation stages it ends up crashing with no stack trace or bug report. Not very helpful to report back to Eagle.
It actually came back with 100% completed but Exxos and I need to go over it as it has probably ripped up some tracks that were already placed. I can already see some areas that could do with taking out and routing manually to improve.
Not so easy to see the routes, but here is a pic without the GND planes etc turn on.

Yep. Painfully slow with large board even moving about. Eagle is more of a hobbyist tool than a professional app. It makes it even more mental as they do not care about the hobbyist users

I see about 19 wires which are not routed. Its because it is using the GND and VCC layers and breaking apart the polygon fill
In one respect it is better to turn off those layers to stop eagle from using them at all, but as I said before, for some mental reason it simply ignores all the tracks already manually routed and routes them again
So it ends up being pretty stuffed either way. Aside from manually routing the entire board, there isn't much options. I do have a couple of ideas which may be a workaround though...

I've finally got a reasonable auto route done. This is from Icky's files before it was auto routed in V9... I routed in V7..
There's 4 broken VCC wires, but if I route them manually, and re-run the autorouter, then it should be routed 100%.. then its if exxos is happy with the result which is the next issue...

Got myself a (dirty and dusty) Atari STfm for donor parts for the H1 project. Thought I was a bit unlucky since it turn out to be a C070859rev 2.1 board and I can't use all of chips on it. But I read thru this thread and saw Ickys post about SMT footprints that was added for glue and mmu.
Very nice!
Just start and unsolder some parts then.

I've done (hopefully) the final tweaks and the board is routing again now.
There was some info about this in my blog in case anyone misssed it

I hope over the next few days to start taking orders for this board. I will be looking to get them made early November. So this gives people a month to order. People should get the boards towards end of November then. This way it will hopefully miss the xmas postal rush.
As a reminder, the pre-order price once listed, doesn't cover postage costs. Some people may want to order items with my store etc as well. So costs will have to be worked out individually. I don't know how heavy the boards are until they arrive either.
I will do a new thread with the BOM info in soon. The current board is now the "H4"... Basically Version "H" and revision "4".

In case people are subscribed to this thread. There are 3 weeks left until the production of the H4 . See this thread
https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... =20&t=2168
There are a couple of people who wanted the SMT soldering for them, this is talked about here. Though put "assembly needed" in the checkout notes so I wont ship the bare PCB.. If you already ordered, send me a PM with your name and email address (order number would help) and I will make a note not to ship the bare PCB.
Some info about assembly here

PCB's are almost done being made. I am making a guess at the timeline. I would think Monday they will be shipped (to me) , so I should get them by the end of next week. As soon as I get them, I will start boxing them up to ship. I then have to work out all the postage costs for it all and send payment links to people
Likely UK boards only orders will be shipped out first.

PCB's are awaiting pickup. I assume they will get shipped (to me) on Monday! With a bit of luck and a blink of an eye (which I carry in my pocket) I should get them a couple days later.

I keep getting asked about postage for stuff etc. I think people have missed a lot of posts at some point...
The pre orders for the H4 were all billed without postage added... Why ? Because I need to weigh the boards when they are packed up in order to work out postage costs for everyone around the world. I can't bill postage because I don't have the boards yet! I will have to pack up everyone one at a time and then bill people one at a time for postage. I cant do this any other way.
With relation to shipping cases with orders, yes I will look into doing that, but again, I don't know postage costs of cases as people want them shipped with the H4 where again , I don't know how heavy they are yet! Also some people want store items shipping which also adds in another factor!
Again, overseas post is limited to 2kg which will mean I may have to repack some orders and send separate packages in order to keep the postage costs down. All this will take a lot of time to sort out.. Thers over 30 orders to get through and may take a couple of weeks.
So again people need to check their emails each day to look for emails from me about postage costs. If you don't, then your order will end up delayed until you check your emails and again, some of my emails end up in peoples junk folders, so check them as well!!
I am posting here in this thread progress, so people please read the progress here.
