Thats one very clean workbench @IngoQ. I think @exxos and I are in the same camp of organised chaos for our workbenches :)

I'm definately not a clean and tidy freak, but for some reason I don't like working in chaos. I find an empty piece of paper inspiring, thats probably related.

And of course I tidy up before taking photos ;)

:) - Thats what cropping tools are for. To hide the chaos, when you see my pics I crop out all the mayhem to the sides ;)

Almost posted the same thing. There's a reason my photos tend to be closely cropped. :)

After seeing your really nice renderings of the H4 board, I wonder how much of your photos are real at all :-D

But yeah, I use cropping as well. Or simply get close enough, so you don't see what is left and right of the bench in that special case

Finally I found some time to start soldering. I managed to finish the Reset circuit, composite gen, mono gen, audio gen, DAC circuit and RGB/Mono switch:

When doing the reset circuit I stumbled upon one thing: In all of the renderings R919 was included in the rectangle labeled as Reset. On the board it isn't, it is placed next to R13, and you can easily mix up R13 with R919:

I hope I have it the right way round, but of course only after doing it wrong in the first place ;) Maybe someone else made the same mistake?

All caps in, the big sockets in and the SIMM socket in.

And yes, I know, I have two types of PLCC sockets in there... I managed to destroy two sockets and had to replace them. In the process I learned that with the Precidip PLCC sockets if not all pins are aligned perfectly, you can easily push up a pin into the socket when trying to seat it. Had to solder out one again, because I didn't notice it early enough... Hopefully I didn't overcook the board

Since I had to order a PLCC44 socket anyways (forgot that the ROM might want a socket to rest in  ), I decided to socket all the ICs. Now waiting for a little christmas package from RS with a lot of sockets in it ;)
