So these have to be custom made, the price per osc isn't bad, but I have to order 1,000 of them

Get someone to FleaBay a few hundred... They should make £80 each, surely, these days. *rare* *exclusive* *last chance*
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

We could also scale up to 64Mhz is that's easier (doubt it) but it would be a option..
I'm wondering if something like this one could be of use : https://www.mouser.fr/ProductDetail/Sil ... ZVdj26CA== (64.152 MHz)

I see there is a problem of voltage (3.3v vs 5v) and it is 6 pins vs 4 pins, so needs an adaptation.

But if it could be used, the timing would be quite close.

Code: Select all

F 32,0849 64,152
div 4 8
f 8,021225 8,019
p 0,124669236930768 0,124703828407532

Well that was quick.

https://centuriontech.eu/product/customized_oscillator/

"Custom built crystal oscillator in DIL14 “metal can” packaging with output customized per your specification. Please input your desired values below. Frequency must be within 0.500MHz – 133.000MHz interval."

At €7.5 it's definitely an option for end users of the remakes who want/need accurate ST clocks. A lot of people might be ok with 32.000 otherwise if anything was to be pre-soldered.

@troed Amazing  Wonder if they comes via digikey then... People could go direct to digikey anyway. I can get them no problem ..just I would have to buy 1,000 of them :(

I guess its a possibility..

Although, after designing a PCB with a voltage regulator, the oscillator, a divider, a level shifter (the oscillator above has LVPECL output, i.e. about 1V - 2V swing), surely you'll end up more expensive than just buying a custom-programmed 5 V oscillator. But you ruled that out in the beginning of the thread... :?

Custom osc from DigiKey takes 57 days for them to deliver to me when programmed as 32.084988MHz. So I don't know if Centurion program them himself?

The manufacture suggested a SMD part.. So waiting back for a price on those.. for new boards its a option..

@czietz There wouldn't be a point in me buying like what, 50 oscillators for my store at like £7 each, £350 just to buy them, buying more in bulk.. nope.. huge investment with little chance of selling them all.. like I said, people might as well just buy from digikey themselves.

So I am looking for a solution which will allow me to stock them, and be cheaper to people than £7 a pop.
