I think I have the files all sorted now. Just send them off for a final quotation :hide:

It's going to be tricky to take preorders for these I think because I don't know how heavy they are until they arrive, so I cannot calculate the postage

But I will probably have to do is take preorders for the boards themselves and calculate the postage and send a payment link separately afterwards.. But this again could be problematical because some you guys in USA etc order 3 boards, then I can see them going over the weight limit and causing problems. I think realistically I am only going to be able to send 2 boards per package.. I think it was three motherboards plus the weight of the packaging went up to the 2KG limit.. So I'm assuming one motherboard less recall the weight of the sockets on 2 others

I wonder if any of you guys out there have a H5 assembled with just the DIP (not DIP 64 sockets) & PLCC sockets on to weigh it for me.. ?

580g mine is loaded. Cannot remember how much the birdseed board was... I think it was around 420g...

I guess 2 assembled boards should still weigh below 2KG even though the packaging does add like 200g "per box".

If you have the spare parts available, weigh a loaded board, then weigh the extra parts, and subtract. :)

If I can, I will dig out my H5 B1 board & weigh that too...which sockets etc. do you want to be included? Don't have the PLCC ones yet but do have some DIL sockets I can include or weigh separately.

The eldest is back home for a week so there's a small chance for me to sneak in some retro time in the evening... ;)

@JezC It is the birdseed board with all the sockets aside from the DIP 64K and simm socket (Also excluding the rear connectors)..

In fact all the jumpers will be soldered on this board as well.

I ballpark it that it will probably be around 450g.

@exxos I can weigh the H5 B1 as it came to me if that helps...then if someone else can weigh the other sockets etc. we should be pretty close (as far as knowing if 2 or 3 boards will fit within the weight limit).

As a general point, I've seen a large variation in the weight of blank PCBs in the past based on the amount of pre-preg and moisture in the boards, so whatever steps we take will be a best guess until the actual boards are in your hands. We've even had to dry out some boards in the oven prior to assembly
