So we gave EU fishing rights for tariff free access then.. Which is what I said...stephen_usher wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 4:43 pmIncorrect. There's a 5 year transition for the fishing permits to catch fish in UK/EU waters, that's it.
The agreement also gives tarif-free access to the EU market (and vice versa) . .

Re: VAT charges to EU states
For what it's worth, I bought stuff from Alan H. (he's based in UK) in January, had to go through the whole customs cycle with added 23% tax + custom fee. So that's pretty much it for me, no more UK orders.

If the value was more than £15 ...?

Re: VAT charges to EU states
Let me know if you get charged.. I mean I could understand VAT + "Admin" charges.. but this shouldn't happen as EU & UK are supposed to have a deal now... if people are getting billed, then we can't have and its a load of BS.olivier.jan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 6:58 pm Let’s see... I ordered from your shop just before receiving the email, we’ll see if I m requested to pay for this one too
RM normally charge £8 "admin" + VAT but this could be anything overseas. If there are more charges than that, then there really shouldn't be..

Re: VAT charges to EU states
Following some further discussions on FB, it seems to be UPS specific and some people had this from UPS even before Brexit, so let’s see with further orders as long as they don’t go through UPS.

Re: VAT charges to EU states
The deal is a (mostly) zero tariff deal - that is all. It is not a free trade deal and we left the EU VAT system. For small sellers like us it is no better (or materially different) to no deal TBH.
Buyers from the EU will get charged VAT and fees same as if they'd ordered from the USA say. Crippling for small value small business.

Re: VAT charges to EU states
Ok, so I just checked some documents on the french Customs web site, they have dedicated documents concerning brexit.
What they say: if you order online from Uk, there are two possibilities
1. Products are made in UK: you only pay VAT (20% here)
2. Products are sent from UK but not made in UK: you pay taxes + VAT....but if the value (excluding shipping) is below 150€ you don’t have to pay taxes, only VAT is due.
So basically, UPS screwed me.
Ps: for UK shops they recommend that you clearly specify on the invoice that your products are made in UK
