OK.I've managed to make a cable! Yay!

One of my CF cards works too.

Well, 4MB is a tad small so I'd like to use a larger one.

However... the 128MB FujiFilm CF card gives:

I can't boot with the CF drive installed (repeated crash or EmuTOS drops to the desktop and can't read any device). If I leave the system in HDDriver HDDUtil as above the system will crash after a while.

(Just forget the Hitachi 1GB Microdrive as that just locks the IDE bus.)

Any ideas as to how to get the 128MB CF card to work or is it a lost cause?
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Oh. This is interesting. I connected a real 60GB hard disk and I'm getting higher bits being set in the device ID when it's read and it's not always consistant.

The drive's ID should be "IC25N060ATMR04-0" but I'm getting either "iC:5060aTMR44-0" or "iC:5060qTMR44-0" or "iC:5060qTMR<4-0". It's also reporting an erroneous size, and the corruption is getting worse the longer the machine has been running for.

This TF536 has the buffers installed.

I've seen some nearly identical behaviour from the same IDE-CF adapter in my Falcon. It appeared to work reliably with some CF cards and not with others. I never did track down specifically why, and ended up switching to a 2.5" IDE-to-SD adapter instead, and haven't had a single problem since. (Link is to a random vendor for this card. It's a generic Chinese thing, so you can find the same model all over the place.)

The ID example was an actual spinning rust drive.
