Apparently "Signed For" is normal post but with an insurance, so the Royal Mail has no idea where things are.
If the item doesn't arrive after 13 days (1st class), i.e. 10 days "late", then the sender can ask for the cost of the lost item or £50, whichever is the lesser.

Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

It doesn't matter how physically close somewhere is , it will go though different sorting offices. They derby one probably has a backlog or another hub on its way. Your RS order will be going though different hubs and has no backlogs. As I said already, as places are going on lockdown, some hubs may be short staffed or even closed totally. Normally packages are lost after 28 days which is when I can open a claim. It can take 2 weeks to bounce back on package which are incorrectly addressed which happens no end for example. So giving 2 weeks there and 2 weeks back is still on the 28 days for lost packages. Again as we are on lockdown it could likely take even longer.stephen_usher wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 5:03 pm Yeah. Though my RS Components order, which was shipped on Monday (again by Royal Mail), arrived on Tuesday without delay. Northampton's not that far from Derby in the grand scheme of things.

Re: TF536 + 68000 relocator and ROM board project.
Decided to test EmuTOS on the first board. Works with the 68000, if I hold the board in the right place over the system cpu socket. I think it's possibly A20 or A21.
I think either the socket or the pins, or both, are wearing out from all the insertion and removal. It's not the ST as I can put a 68000 in its place and it's completely stable however I tap the processor.
So, I've hit another wall without the header pins and sockets turning up.

Re: TF536 + 68000 relocator and ROM board project.
Bother! I think I've killed the 68030 and maybe the TF536 yesterday with a thoughtless touch of the address lines before grounding myself. I know the 68000 on the board started glitching on the address lines I touched. Damn!
All the outputs of the 68030 are hovering around 3.3V and there's no sign of life on any of the address or data bus and it's defnitely getting power and clock.
Still, the newly built relocator works, mostly and shows that a 4 layer board is definitely required.

At least the 030 should be quick and easy to replace. Lets hope you didn't kill the CPLD as well as they are a pain to remove.stephen_usher wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 2:20 pm Bother! If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

Re: TF536 + 68000 relocator and ROM board project.
I'll have to find one first!
I can quickly check to see if the CPLD responds to the JTAG interface.

@stephen_usher yes and thatll be one step in the right direction if it does. Also the ram dying will stop it booting in certain cases.

True, but there's no output at all from the CPU. It's totally inert.

The Xilinx device responds to JTAG.
