Too much sound now. On desktop I now have constant keyboard beep. I know my 68B50s have a few dodgy legs, so I think that's the problem.

Away again for a few days, so will sort that when I come back and then do the gembench test
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

I am having a similar problem. I am noticing rapid keyboard clicks when I move the mouse sometimes.

I too have a not so clean ACIA area. When pulling them in and out of the dil socket for patching the socket has some bad connections.

Am going to replace the dil sockets to clean it up.

Cool :) If the sound is to loud, we can tweak a resistor on the audio amp circuit to lessen it...

So other than likely iffy soldering all over the place, we should pretty much be done I think ?

Of course ports need testing etc as well.. whos going to brave ultrasatan first ?

I was hoping my board would have been with me by now :( Maybe get it this week.... Then I can do some testings and scope out the signals make sure we have no bad ringing anywhere.

Its worth checking the bodge wires on the databus.. if the CPU is getting bad data then it will of course cause odd things to happen.

I think the sound should be ok as is.

Yeah I think the bodge wires need checking too. The mouse worked fine before getting the drive working but now doesn't. I will try it with the SR98 instead of the bench power supply when I get back too.

As for ultrasatan, mines an internal one but I have to fix a broken SD card socket first

Worth a try as long as you don't mind it getting trashed :P

I can try UltraSatan on my board eventually... I have half wondered about adding IO buffers to the DMA port like the STE has... Though the DMA works fine on the STFM. Though my concern is last time I checked Jookie's design was using resistor dividers which had pretty low resistor values which was a fair load on the DMA chip IIRC. No idea if later designs used proper IO buffers or not..

Hmmm - maybe will hold off until am more confident things won't break. Don't like the idea of trashing kit.

 Its the same circuit as the STFM pretty much anyway...

One thing is can you guys check a GEM window... I always had noise floating left to right like on this image...

Its the vertical "white" lines which show up on the drag bar ... its video noise... I know it shows up well on my TV, so if you guys are using LCD, please compare from a STFM to the STF board and see if that type of noise is better or not... (should be better as much shorter routing to the video port than the STFM, and I routed the video area manually and didn't let the auto router anywhere near the RGB drivers!)
