So next on the list was to 3d print something to sort out the horrible hole someone had cut into the front of the computer case.
It's still a work in progress, hence the colour but you get the idea. Here's the before and after pics.

Re: FMNs blog / the latest things hes briken(fixed)
3D printer is a must, though due to other things that take priority, I haven't run it up for a little while now, though It has given me a good stock of Gotek mounts and FDD stand offs. Have plans for a 3d printed version of the Atari 7800 control pad, which I really like, thou I need to get everything measure first before I 3D ise it.PaulJ wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 7:08 pmYa, I've been planning on getting one but I'd like to master a 3d design tool first. Didn't want to just download cup holders and print them. An the wife would say what do ya want that for? It will just collect dust. Nice work FMN!Forgottenmyname wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 5:46 pm
Thanks, will do something similar with the other Mega once the Pak is up and running properly.
And to think my wife thought me buying a 3d printer would be short lived and it would end up gathering dust in the cupboard.
Personally I like Fusion 360, especially since you can register as a maker/startup and get it for free.

That control pad should be interesting to make. Will keep an eye out for it when you do it RJ

Oh right, yes I'd seen that. This was more about making someone else bodge look suitable with what I'd got.
I think in the end I may remake the whole gotek mount to look better but right now I'm printing the fascia again and will glue it to the gotek and then spray it when I get the paint.
I know floppy drives for Ataris are hard to get now but I wish when people adjusted their cases to fit new drives, that they didn't butcher them like the one I've got.

Re: FMNs blog / the latest things hes briken(fixed)
So, whilst waiting for Icky and exxos IDE interface, I've started to build the two TF534s that arrived this week.
It's going to be a slow build with these ones, as I've got a lot going on and other things higher up the list of priorities, including her indoors wanting to decorate the house.
Well she's out tonight, so I've soldered the two small xilinx chips, oscillator and the voltage regs, which are about all I had in stock in SMD parts.
I've got all the thru hole stuff but found it a pain to solder the SMD stuff with the sockets in place on the TF530 I've just completed. The TF530 is all ready to go but for some reason, my Thknkpad is refusing to load the Xilinx programs, so will have to set up a Raspberry Pi and do it that way.
So next is to wait till pay day (next week) and then order the parts to get the TF534s done and the bits for the IDE board.

Update no. 1 for today.
One 1040 STFM motherboard arrived in the post today, supposedly doesn't work. Be no fun if it did though
And on my travels, I managed to pick up another Mega ST. This time it's a ST2 and is a C100167 rev 5 with the gold Ram chips and a DSP 508A power supply. It has a date on the bottom of 09/12/88 for those that are into that kind of thing.
Here's the Mega with its top off. Will swap the PSU to a good one in a mo and see what happens.
Edit one.
And its Alive, Tos 1.02 as expected. Not sure what I will do with it just yet, ut will at least be upgraded to 4mb and an Original Mega drive will be installed.
So on to the STFM next.
