Re: 2600 Composite mod
Very nice, but as you say, not exactly cheap, and in fact not dissimilar to 2600jr prices on ebay.
Not so sure I'd want to go that far.

Re: 2600 Composite mod
Yeah it does look good but my 2600 cost me 20 quid, so a bit too expensive for me too all things considered.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.

I'm going to get one.. I asked if I can become a UK distributor for them, not sure what "deal" could be done, but no harm in asking.

Re: 2600 Composite mod
Yeah, I want a good output on my original one.
I want to create my svideo mod as cheap as possible. Though I doubt they will sell, to much competition and people just go to evilbay.
I guess it also depends on what RJ finds as I think he has a video mod installed already.. if mine is worse, then I probably just abandon the project.

Re: 2600 Composite mod
This chip looks interesting for a more advanced filter...
https://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/ ... AX7452.pdf
but its dual supply
EDIT: Oh no, the 52 is signal supply... might do a bodge to see if that works better than the 53 I use on the output...

Re: 2600 Composite mod
I'll try and get some pictures of my composite mod in action before I fit the other mod to my second 2600, see what the comparison is like.
Off to a karate grading shortly, so will be tonight.

Can you try pole position ? would be good to compare with my images then...rubber_jonnie wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 12:24 pmI'll try and get some pictures of my composite mod in action before I fit the other mod to my second 2600, see what the comparison is like.

The video isn't to bad overall, just picking up noise somehow. That new chip seems to be able to set the black level manually, so that could possibly help one issue.. chips are expensive, £10 a pop though

Have fun kicking-ass

Yep, I'll get a pic of Pole Position so you can see what's what.

Re: 2600 Composite mod
As promised, here's some Pole Position pics.
I can't find the original mod details for the comp mod I did (I'm going to see if I can dig them out), but the method was to remove a number of components on the board, modulator included, and then add in a transistor to the board, which then allowed me to pick up composite and audio from the main PCB.
Here is a picture of the title screen:
And in game:
Obviously there is some motion blur on the in game picture.
The shield was fitted during when I took the above pics.
There is another mod I was going to try here: http://blog.tynemouthsoftware.co.uk/201 ... ation.html
Which I think will also work for the 7800.
