Well, here's a early version.. its pretty fast and pretty accurate. In my opinion.. Never the less I'm told its inferior in every way but for laughs and giggles or just plain curiosity give it a try and tell me just how bad it is. I'm a big boy, I can take it.. Its really just an exercise in using Lattice C which turned out to be pretty complete and not bad at all

I'll also give it a test when I get home from my trip.PaulJ wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 3:15 am Well, here's a early version.. its pretty fast and pretty accurate. In my opinion.. Is there a maximum number of iterations? I'd like to be able to run it for extended periods in a 'burn in' test sort of way.

Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
Not got around to testing your prog yet PaulJ, got distracted by my RAM upgrade that's now slid back again (Must not rush it, stupid SMD chips!)
However I did try some more IDE drives, a couple more laptop drives (Hitachi 20GB & Toshiba 2GB) plus a couple of full sized drives (WDC 120GB and Samsung 80GB) as pictured below. All worked and were correctly detected and partitionable with HDDRIVER.
I also tried a DVD RAM drive and my Iomega REV again.
Both are detected by HDDRIVER and are seen in the config utility, but only visible as drives in the HDDRIVER utility, and aren't partitionable, which in the case of the CD-ROM that was in the DVD drive makes sense.
The Iomega REV makes less sense, until you start to look at it under Windows, and there it appears as a CD-ROM file system, albeit 35GB. This is likely why it doesn't behave when I try to partition it, but why it is seen under HDDRIVER. Need to read the manual some more.
I have a ZIP drive waiting for me to collect from work, so that will get tested shortly too, and I will try PaulJ's test program as well.
So far the whole thing seems pretty stable with whatever I've chucked its way.

Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
Hi Jon, yes its been working fine for me.. haven't seen any units show any defects with any of the test programs though.. maybe I need to buy some Chinese media. I saw your memory expansion which appears to be a challenge since most of the solder area is under the chip. I personally haven't had much luck soldering with hot air. I'd love to try a solder mask and oven but that's for another day. Good luck with the upgrade Jon.rubber_jonnie wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2019 4:09 pm Not got around to testing your prog yet PaulJ, got distracted by my RAM upgrade that's now slid back again (Must not rush it, stupid SMD chips!)

Right, I have an IDE ZIP drive in my hands now, be interesting to see how that plays with the IDE interface, since it's supposed to be supported by HDDRIVER. More to come

Re: ST-IDE-ROM Dev Board v1 - BETA Testers
OK, not had a great deal of time tonight but have just tested the Zip100, and the damn thing works, in that I can partition it, read and write files to it, and even eject and reinsert it with no problems.exxos wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 7:16 pmSweet!rubber_jonnie wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 4:51 pm Right, I have an IDE ZIP drive in my hands now, be interesting to see how that plays with the IDE interface, since it's supposed to be supported by HDDRIVER. What I can't do is autoboot from it, even in TOS 2.06. Still a win in my eyes though, and I expect it means that the Zip250 should also work, and also the Jaz drive series, since they are also supported in HDDRIVER.
Transfer rate is 90-100 kb/s so not fast, but certainly usable.
Will try and get some pictures to add in.
Just wish I had a Jaz drive rather than my Rev. If I find a way to erase the Rev I may yet get it to work.
