There is massive room for optimizing the accesses for an ST. Wouldnt work on an amiga though.

Been trying to get the floppy drive working all day, I've no idea whats up with the thing. Just get 2 bombs before RAM test.. or if I leave the floppy out to get to desktop, then access it, I just get a row of bombs. I've tried a second motherboard to be sure as well. I don't see anything wrong with TF's BG code, but I am not familiar with the 030 anyway. But assume as its 3-wire like the 68000, that theres nothing special about it anyway. My only suggestion is to take it back to bare-bones 8MHz setup with no IDE, FPU, or 50MHz cycles and see if that at least works.. but Stephen would have to code that up.
I've hacked in a 50MHz osc and these are the scores.

Without the Drive TOS2.06 dies on its ass. I dont even bother with TOS ... I used EmuTOS with the TF534.exxos wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 11:23 pm Been trying to get the floppy drive working all day, I've no idea whats up with the thing. I made some progress with the floppy drive. Its actually loading GB6 now and running, but there is some slight graphics corruption and the scores are all reading 0% But oddly it is stable.
It seems to be relating to the CPU seeing DTACK during a DMA cycle. Of course its very hard to follow someones else code, in a language I never used, on a chip I never used, on a board I never used, with a CPU I never used , but other than that its going well I think

Re: exxos 534 blog - Atari
Last night it wasn't working again when I passed out for the night.. turned it on several times thismorning and its working fine...
I'm wondering if its suffering from wake up state issues as it seems to be alternating at random when its working and not working.. hard to prove as its not currently malfunctioning at all
EDIT:
So it started going nuts again.. I think part of the problem is the CPU's can't run at 50MHz.. I been hitting it with freezer spray and its behaving a lot better now. So will stick a slower osc in there later..

Apologies for supplying sub standard components
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.
Re: exxos 534 blog - Atari
It does the same with my 030 Phil. I think they need a heatsink even if running at 33MHz.. I need to more tests... Difficult to diagnose when it wasn't working for 3 hours yesterday, now I can't get it to fail the same way.

Re: exxos 534 blog - Atari
the same with my Falcon with 50MHz clock, 68030 was very hot and unstable, finally small cooler fan was needed. on 40Mhz 68030 was hot but stable

Re: exxos 534 blog - Atari
Yes you are probably right. I have a heat sink on my proper 50mhz one as it is, let alone a 33mhz.
