To be fair if you count everything, it's 20-30 retro machines, but only the 9 STs. Is that any better?

A mere 5 Atari machines (1xSTM, 2xSTFM, 1xSTE, 1xTT).

I think it's only 22 in total, including the Sun workstations.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Pretty pleased with the Mega 1 I collected today.

Case is undamaged with no cuts or mods for floppies etc, and includes the original floppy drive. It even has all of the original metal clips on the GLUE, MMU and Blitter still.

Interestingly, it came with a Sack 8086 emulator installed, with a Sony made V30 CPU. That's currently removed whilst I do some testing. Cleanest machine I've seen inside for quite a while.

Next job is to sort the TOS version out as it is currently German, though I did manage to boot it up to TOS 2.06 with my PAK 68/2 plugged in.

I would like to find a permanent home for the PAK, trouble is that it doesn't play nicely with the Blitter, and I don't really want to remove the Blitter from either the Mega 4 or the Mega 1.

If I'm honest, I'd really like to get the IDE interface installed and working, as I think that will provide the best upgrade for both. I know somebody else on the forum in the Beta IDE section got it running in a Mega, so need to go back and find that.

If I'm honest, I have 2 IDE interfaces and I can't think of a better home for them right now.

Damn hobby is going to make my head explode!!

Removed 68K CPU from the Mega 4, soldered in a socket (From @exxos ) and the damn thing now seems to think there is no CPU. :sigh:

The reason for the change was I wnated to install one of the Beta IDE interfaces for testing, and probably a permanent home.

So out with the test board, a standard 1040STFM with a socket in place of CPU. CPU dropped in and all works just fine, so CPU is good.

The PSU is a new Meanwell, so the voltages are good and I'm not worried about it's ability to deliver power, as it powers up my other machines just fine, including the aforementioned test board.

The strange thing is that it behaves as though the CPU isn't present, in other words if the CPU is removed, when I power on, it behaves the same. I get 5v at the CPU socket, pin 14.

Since the display I'm using isn't 15Khz capable, and it gives me a signal out of range message, I think a hookup to one of my 15Khz capable NECs is on the cards, see what I can see.

Any advice for troubleshooting this would be gratefully received.

EDIT: just get a blank black screen on the NEC and booting with the diag cart doesn't happen either. The red led on the cart just flickers then goes off. Will try hooking up to serial. It's madness that a change like this breaks the machine.
