Amiga 500++

Post by redhawk668 »

I got myself an A500++ PCB, very nice board in it’s purple color. I am going to build a reproduction of the Amiga 500+, but with a twist. I will equip it with 2 mb of chipram on board, which will be an SRAM board. Looking forward to building this and posting my progress here.
My collection: 1040 STE, TOS 2.06, 4 mb, CosmosEx - 520 STFM, TOS 1.04, 4 mb, Blitter, CosmosEx - 520 STFM, TOS 1.04, 4 mb - 1040 STF, TOS 1.04, 1 mb, Gotek - Amiga 1200 with Blizzard 1220/4 - Amiga 500 + ACA500 - Amiga 500 + TF530, 1 mb chipram hack.

Atari 8 bit: 800XLF, stock - 600XL, Ultimate 1 mb, Sophia RGB - 130XE, 320 kb, Sophia RGB

Sinclair stuff: 3x Spectrum 48KB, Clones: Harlequin, JS128, Nuvo128 and Issue3B replica.

Ultimate64, a few C64 breadbins and Pi1541 for storage.

Yep, an Amiga 500+ with battery damage which I got from eBay for a reasonable price.

All Done! The Amiga 500++ is ready. Has taken some time, while waiting for stuff to arrive. Finally finished soldering. The board is 95% new electronics and the rest is from the donor board. Tested wit DiagROM with the 68000 CPU on it. Ordered DRAM's from eBay and 3 out of 8 did not work, so replaced them with some I had in stock, then it booted in one go, all tests passed. Runs nicely now with TF534 on it.

After I finished soldering, I tried to fit the SRAM board, it wouldn’t fit :( Fitted DRAM’s instead.

OOOOH that looks nice!!! Great way to to go if the A500+ is too damaged from the battery acid.. Some pcbs just arent worth the time to try and patch up when the acid is eating its way throu it all under the silk :(

Good job!
