Re: Turrican II intro music
Ok this fixes it for me... please confirm someone...
Its basically caused by the 030 being fractionally slower on the 68000 bus when given the same clock. You can all thank @exxos, GemBench and the Atari ST for the fix. As i've pinched this from what i was doing on the ST.

Re: Turrican II intro music
So with this firmware...
Turrican 2 dodgy ADF written to floppy - perfect
Turrican 2 WHDLoad slave 1.8 - perfect
Turrican 2 WHDLoad slave 2.1 - perfect
.
.
.
Damocles text timing (WHDload slave 1.3) - perfect!
It's a winner!
I'm not quite sure what to say other than cracking job TF! And the ST folks

Sound issues are no longer present on an A500+ and a ... CDTV. Great stuff!
The new firmware also appears to have reduced the boot time of a SD card WB3.9 FFS image significantly compared to the previous firmware that I was using...
Perhaps I'm behind the curve and have missed a previous update? I think I need to investigate this one further!

Re: Turrican II intro music
I've added an r1 firmware to the binary on github too.

Re: Turrican II intro music
I can't say I noticed a boot time improvement but I wasn't really paying that much attention as I never felt boot times were slow in the first place.go0se wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2020 9:18 pm Sound issues are no longer present on an A500+ and a ... CDTV. Great stuff!

I just did a quick sysinfo drive speed test though (I know, it can't be trusted) and it now averages around 2.9 - used to be more like 2.7. So who knows!

Re: Turrican II intro music
Further (read proper) tests indicate that the boot times are equivalent on average with the previous firmware - i.e. absolutely fine but not any faster. I fell foul of having multiple Workbench images and Amigas sitting in front of me and not comparing like for like images so the earlier boot time report was a red herring.
This firmware definitely does seem to have solved the music slowdown issue. I will use it on builds from now on to check stability and for any regression.
