1208 8mb for Amiga 1200

Post by nick123 »

Hi
I’ve just finished making one of the tf328 8mb A1200 memory cards and I’m having a few problems.
If I put the card in the Amiga and switch on I just get a black screen I’ve gone over the board and fixed a few problems I had found. I thought I would have ago at programming the card anyway with a pi and amazingly the chip that I thought would have caused problems the RAM CPLD programmed fine.
But I’m getting an error when programming the MUX CPLD
The error comes up as programming sector 0……….failed
Verify sector 3
Mismatch at fuse 823: 0 vs 1
The command line I’m using for the programming is sudo xc3sprog -v -c sysfsgpio -p 1 muxcpld_rev1_36.jed:w
When I use the command sudo xc3sprog -c sysfsgpio
This command comes back with the correct information and displays the two CPLDs .
I don’t believe I’m getting any interference from the HDMI as JTAG wires are short and away from the HDMI lead also RAM CPLD programmed fine.
the mistakes I made when soldering the components. On the mux chip I did have a short between 3 pins that I fixed but the card was switched on with the short.
When I first built the board the capacitors I used were not ceramic and mattered what way around they were installed c2 fried I replaced all with ceramic. I know this sounds really stupid to buy the wrong capacitors but when googling the caps they looked like the correct part and I didn’t really take any notice of the band around one end of the cap when soldering.
Only other thing I done was the odd pin on the edge connector was not solder correctly.
My next idea was to replace the XC9536XL just in case I damaged it with the short.
Or can you think of anything else i can try? any help would be great as apart from replacing the the chip i cant see what else i can do.
thank you for any help.

I've not got much experience using the Pi programming method. I figured it out and put a video up but i dont use it myself. Usually for me when things don't program is bad cabling. But i've no idea how the A1208 is wired up :/

What was the source of your components?

I would check basics. Voltage on 5V and 3.3V line, and then chip itself.

I have had the Fuse mismatch error before using the Raspberry pi and the only way I could program it in the end was to use the orignal Xilinx programmer and it programmed ok, other than that you will need to replace the chip, sorry be the bringer of bad news, I think its something to do with the protection within the chip thats why the Xilinx programmer works

Some Xilinx chips have write/read protection enabled, standard Xilinx Tools have an option to override this in order to reprogram these chips. Ive seen that on Xilinx cplds bought on Ebay and Ali..

Maybe erasing only, and then writing again would help?
